timing is timing, they're both the same there's just 2 ways of adjusting it. Put a timing light on it and see where it sits. Than move onto your cam timing and make sure your cams are sitting where they're supposed to be.

If you have fuel and spark (everything else is mechanically sound) than you just need them to so what they have to do at the right time. It has to start with correct timing, spark and fuel

My friend has one of those and it's got some decent torque below 4000 rpm. Fun to drive, I like 'em.

If it has a maf ; unplug it. When it cranks does it crank over smoothly. Ive worked on a couple of those and the main problem ive seen with them is that the wire harness starts to break. The wires themselves. Im assuming you bought it not running. Check you cam timing. Get Cylinder number 1 at TDC TAke out the spark plug and stick a coat hanger in there ; turn the engine by hand. Dont get the hanger caught in there!. Once you do that check you timing marks and see you off if at all you are. While youre at it take the distributor cap off and make sure the rotor is pointing to cylinder #1.Have you checked the plugs make sure they are not fouled out . My two cents , hope i helped

Are you positive its getting fuel? Squirt some carb cleaner in there. Have you tried moving the timing around while cranking it? Let us know if you have done that. So we can help
