That rear coilover will be too long if you think the shock/spring unit can be fitted back there, but I don't think that's what you mean. You should be able to use the threaded perch assembly, you might be able to run the spring itself but it might be long-ish.

One of the budget ways to go is find a 4WD wagon of your era and cut one coil out of the rear springs. They fit right in, the ride height is correct (4WD have extra clearance), and the spring rate is upped from stock without being so stiff it overpowers a stock shock.

Thanks for the idea man i will see if i can find a 4wd wagon. The other thing i had in mind that a guy at the track told me was to weld a bar to the coil spring leaving the top and bottom coils not welded and that makes it stiff but it looks to risky to me...

There are actual coil spring shims/wedgesyou can get at the auto parts store. I think they are called spring "helpers" that do that without the welding. You definitely don't want to weld on a tempered spring, that's stupid.

Local dude from the hood who we call Jesus Soldier (it's the vinyl banner on one of the cars he drives) was trying to heat the springs on a Saturn with a torch to lower it, caught the car on fire. Crazy ----.

Today we mounted coilover sleeves that were for a Ek civic but the springs did not fit so we used the sleeves to the stock rear springs and they are more stiff and a little higher. Filled the mounts with polyurethane

It's been a long time since an update been busy working on my ek. So the engine got a new headgasket the old one was good but we wanted to raise the compression a bit up to 125psi and got new shoes for the car so track day should be soon. After we finish moving to another place.

Here is a pic of the new slicks 24.5-8-13

It cost us $3000 including the car and machine work and is only gonig to be a track car no more street riding for it. It is not running at the moment needs new spark plugs, rotor and a tune. As soon as that happens i'll post a video. There are some clips on youtube you can see of the 3rd gen at the track.
