+400hp 02 Kia Spectra GS - Build Thread
Listen you little douche nozzle I never knocked the guys work in fact I quote” but good on ya buddy” but like I said it has no benefit or advantage to it by virtue of it’s manufacture in all IMO and in all likely hood if you push that poor little engine past 300 hp it’s going to bust it’s poor little cast crank out all over the ground !!! (13 seconds is not a very fast car) and you call me a ***!!?? I defend my position and you say I’m a ----- and all this other ---- what ------ ever you goof and soon enough I will post some good ----.
For me it’s all about bang for the buck I ain’t ------ baller with cash and I don’t have allot of time to play with my own personal ---- I’m old I have a arthritis in my hip from workin hard all my life so I want the best I can get for the least cash and I don’t want to have to keep tearin it up and doin it over because it spun a bearing or have the ------ crank bust in half because it chewed through the thrust bearing as I hit 2nd gear, Nissan ---- is rock solid on the bottom end up unitl about a year and a half ago I was North American tried and true till by buddy put a VH 45 in his boat and I got a look at the bottom end holy ---- it would cost a bundle to build a SBC like that. that’s also why I like HMT. there is some good idea’s floating around on here and not bad tech on here too and a few guys that think out of the box and it can be ------ hilarious when some poor noob gets his *** flamed to ------ pieces for asking the obvious or trying to brag about his ride that’s chinked out beyond help. So what do roll in kid ? And how fast is it? Do you even own a set of tools? Or is the only tool you have is the dick in your mouth ?

Fighting online is like competing in the special olympics-- even if you win, you're still retarded...... so I'm done kid and unless I post something that is wrong or bullshit and you can prove it or outright dis a worthy effort back off I'm done
I don't even have to update the thread for it too pop back up lol.
In short, everyone's opinions are not going to stop this build or steer it away. Briefly touching on your comments; the 1.8L T8D DOES have forged rods, and a well built head that will flow plenty for my goals, and more with the right port/valve job. The forged rods were for a past customer that never went through, so uber deal for me, same with the pistons. I could go on about the pro's & cons of the engine, but you've already made up your mind on the epic Fail of this build. Plus it has already been mentioned throughout this thread.
The only major downfall is the cast crank, as I even mentioned. But no one knows the limit of that yet ( especially w/ main cradle ). I will be finding that out there is no doubt. It has actually been cheap to do this build added up. Especially since a complete assembled engine can be found for $200. Only thing that costs money are universal parts, and a few forged pieces.
Saying this will not be fast or is apointless build only will further encourage it's completetion. Saying I won't break 300whp when there are 1.6L SOHC civics pushing 4-500whp, and other LOWER RATED engines? I laugh...
I respect your opinion, but given your field, you should be able to respect the unusual and unique build, especially when it is on a platform you have little to no experience with. I enjoy working on this car as a whole over a handful of other cars all day. Including many nissans ( I built many procharger kits for Spec-Vs for awhile as well ). I don't talk ---- about cars unless I have serious personal experience with that platform. FYI this car ran low 14s @ 97mph with bolt-ons and homemade port job, NO tune and a bad MAF sensor.... I think it will go a little quicker then 13s. It already went 'fast' N/A (145mph) just needs to be a lot quicker ;-)
Enjoy the build. (which will resume in a week or so. been super busy to touch it).

It's been a busy last few months, but I have finally gotten back to the car on a weekly basis, and will be working on it every week to get it drivable by spring. Sp here is the updates as of the last few weeks...

due to space limits I stuck with the wider, thicker core. 3.5" thick core.

Test fit the readiator/fan to get proper spacing between intercooler.

Lower IC brackets.

I had to cut 1.5" out of the composite bumper to just clear the top of the intercooler.

Simple yet effective upper IC brackets.

Sneak peak of bumper cover. It will require some trimming on the lower grill to get it to fit and not touch the bumper.

Engine bay fabrication is nearing completion, but the car is not even close. Still a ton of work ahead....
