250whp on a D series? What's needed?

I'm looking at eagle rods, JE pistons head studs and a bigassed turbo and talon injectors. Will the stock sleeves put up with this sort of punishment to make 250whp? I assume that to be able 280 at the crank.

One more thing, any junkyard type turbo you'd recommend that could meet these power goals? I believe a stock talon unit would be too small but they have a common (16G upgrade) if not then I'd be possibly looking at a Garrett GT28R.

well hack, ill be looking to push in excess of 250 hp with my y7/y8 mini me at around 16-18 psi on stock sleeves , posted block, srp 9:1 pistons, crower econobillet rods, je pro seal rings, and a t3 48/60 with 3 inch dp and exhaust....run by turboedit supporting a 3 bar map sensor

Yikes, 3bar with the turboedit PM6 map? I don't know of anyone who has done this with any degree of success. I haven't finished the new turbo map lookups and may not for a while so you might have a large loss of resolution.

Anyway, I've heard mixed reviews of posting a block. Some say it's good, some say not. When will your project be complete?

the motor will be installed this weekend and i will break it in next week. the weekend after that i install the turbo kit and arrange with phiz to have him tune it. ef9 says i should have no problem running the 3 bar with his try21.bin which is scaled for a 3 bar map sensor

Ok, not too long ago Blundar was asking if I could do some 3 bar testing as there didn't seem to be anyone out there with a 3 bar map.

It has been suggested to me that this thing should be blockguarded as well.

Personally I'm starting to think he should just drop a mazda B6T motor in there with some pistons and rods. That combo would have no trouble putting out more than 300hp.

there are plenty of motors cpable of 300+ hp, the point i would assume of a d-series is to keep it simple and fairly cheap. ive heard good things about the strength of d-series sleeves, but i posted mine anyway. i dont see the need for a blockguard, especially since a lot of people have had bad experiences. im sure theyre decent when welded in and the cooling holes are bigger though
