Re: 1990 Legacy build
I am not the best tuner, so I went SAFE this build
It was the ---- luck that got me. I really went out of my way to get everything done right. Oh well. |
Re: 1990 Legacy build
1 hour 20 minutes. Motor out and mounted to engine stand. Manifolds off and stored. Fluids drained.
Andddd... I predict #2 cylinder from the sparkplug. All the rest looked ok, and the intake runner to #2 was oily as well. But I am going to have the heads rebuilt regardless, so i will pull all 4 pistons and inspect. Nothing shiny in the oil, so I think I will keep this short block and simply replace the bad piston(s). |
Re: 1990 Legacy build
You've got more heart than all the Subaru owners I know combined.

Re: 1990 Legacy build
Heads off.
#2 and #4 piston hammered. ringlands falling off as I remove them. #1 and #3 fine and dandy. This is typical of blown subaru motors, built or not. Heads are going to go get rebuilt while I am down. they were USED JDM heads on a front clip I purchases a long time ago. And since then they have been on at least 5-8 different builds that of course ---- pistons. Time for some valve guide love. |
Re: 1990 Legacy build
Do the intake manifolds not distribute evenly or somethng?

thats sweeeeeet

Just popping in to say that reddevil is an inspiration to Subaru diy turbo-ers and SC-ers the world over, including myself.
And sorry for the old thread bump. |
