1988 Saab!
I'm thinking of buying a 1988 Saab 9000 CD 16v Turbo Intercooled. It's a 5spd, and seems to run pretty well from the test drives I took, the turbo seems to spool pretty fast and it's loud, only problem is it has 245,000 miles on it should I even bother to buy it. I wasn't planning on, going all out just give it a little go with a 3 inch downpipe, new muffler, BOV, new intercooler and that's proably about it. Has anyone dealt with these kinda of cars. I wanna know what I'm getting myself into before I close the deal on the car. By the way it's gonna just be my daily driver until I finish college!

Re:1988 Saab!
well most cars with miles on it that high usualy are money pits, basicly alot of parts start to go after a while and need replacing.
i do have a friend with a saab that has over 500xxx miles on her and is still goin strong. so i guess the thing is.... is the car well takin care of, did the person do routine oil changes and normal check-ups.
i dont no saabs to well so i couldnt give you a sure answer. just use your best judgment when lookin it over

Re:1988 Saab!
Whats the price?Thats the main factor.
But as with anny used turbo car,I would pull the pipes off the turbo and give it the old wiggle/in out test to see how the turbo is doing.I pulled my t3 off of an 86 Sand it was in perfect shape. So if the car was taken care of it should be ok.
As far as a bov, on that car its a diverter valve(usually the black bosch plastic crap). You cant vent it on those cars because of the MAS sensor.they freak out.Its just like the goddam VWs.

don't get into those strage difficult to work on european cars. you're gonna get shafted on the parts and if you take it to a mechanic, bring some ky and some icy hot.lol
if you want a factory turbo'd car, buy a starion, eclipse gst, 300zx turbo or twin turbo or you caan boost up a civic. old european cars=huge headaches
