that is a lot of work. i understand adding the joints between the cage and the a-pillars, but not the gussets on the inside of the cage on the a-pillars... they look like they would almost impede peripheral vision. shouldn't the cage be strong enough without these?

i was thinking the same thing, looks like it would impair alot of your vision, pretty sweet build though, but that car is sturdy as ---- through the turns.

thats actually an old school desert racing/rally trick took to the major extremes. usually they just build a regular roll cage and put those plates up to the pillars from the gage now down and way past them. from what i understand the reasoning behind it is in a hard side impact even in rollovers sometimes it wont bust/crack the windshield back befor they used lexan now who knows what they use it for?

road racing

They get the cars from 3500# to 500# then back up to about 2500# for race day I think . I follow a lot of builds its fun to see them scramble to save weight. They clip single 16g wires if their an inch too long.
