blade speed is 10x too fast, youll never get it low enough. not enough hp, and its 110v.

i use a 14" usable depth, 10" max height, 92" blade, 1hp century motor/delta bandsaw. its got a gearbox to do the reduction. it's a $1000 bandsaw, and i can stall it if im lucky, and it's not even all that powerful. you get what you pay for, step up to 1/2hp, or 3/4hp since youre probably staying 110v.

wood cutting dont have enough strength, thats why they make metal cutting bandsaws..

like i said, you can ---- up the cheap ---- saw with metal, and melt the blade with too much speed, or just get one

HF, it works

grizzly, works better

baller delta unit.

to get a good priced upright, youre gonna pay more. the 3 i listed above, are under $400, in order of price.

also, you can use a scrollsaw. half the blade speed, and back-cuts for chip removal. can't cut as thick, but scrollsaws fit on a 3ft high workbench, and generally take up a l-w-h area of under 30 x 18 x 12.

older bandsaws can be found for cheap, and they're usually pretty good if you get all cast-iron units.

i love my harbor freight band saw but the metal cutting blades they sell are GARBAGE. i've had 2 break at the weld joint each after about only 6 cuts. this was as the slowest speed and with the most amount of gravity resistance.

Buy a good variable tooth, variable sway, Bi-metal blade and it will cut faster and last longer.
