Crank the heat all the way on these small welders and only weld for a very short time in a strreatch.When you get a hissing sound then you have the wire speed set right.Bevel any but welds and lay the filler into the V grove.Grind down to bare metal to get the best penetration with small welders.

 

Unfortunately, I only have a Campbell Hausfield WF1800 welding machine. Unlike most of the low-end units I've seen, this one doesn't have the wire speed adjustment ****. It only has two settings, High and low. The wire speed is preset to the heat setting. So I have less control over the welds than most with similar machines. Wish me the best.
