DIY turbo timer

i was reading through all the FAQ threads and stumbled across one that someone was talking about using a capacitor on the ignition + 12v to essentially keep the ignition wire hot until the capacitor ran out of power after you turned the key switch to off. technically letting it run until the cap ran out of juice. now there was only a few replies to it and it seemes like it was going somewhere but people stopped messing with it and it never really got explained.

now i think i could prolly figure this out and make it work but im wondering if any of you have already done it or would like to offer up some advice on which capacitor/relays on which wire/switches should be used.

i know all you gotta do is not rip on it for a few minutes before you park or whatever but i just like the idea of really really cheap and just not having to give a ---- and turning it off when i want. i also like the idea of not having a bunch of cluttered ---- in my car so i really liked this write up and think its a cheap alternative any have any suggestions or ideas?

yeah I built one but never tested it. I starting out using a cap and it's keeps a relay engaged. Then I tryed using a 555 timer. But I sold my crx before i completed it. I still have the schemtics and i just bought a new crx so the project will contiune.

Re: DIY turbo timer

my only thing is i dont think power will come out of the cap unless both leads are touching the same thing. but if there isnt a diode the power would just keep the ------ thing always on?

Re: DIY turbo timer

o wait ---- then theres nothing to power it either... son of a bitch

maybe swing the diode up to the top red wire between where it splices for the cap and where power splices back in?
