The fact that you don't understand economics makes me laugh, buy a used cooler. If you are just going to use a piece of ---- $100 torch you could do your whole setup with a used cooler for under$300.

Do you understand that prices differ from place to place around the country?

I'm buying it from pracsair, and well this is the same company that i have used for over 2 years. so.... whats your point?

do you really think you know everything?

You mean Praxair?
Very familiar with them, a $100 watercooled torch will be ----. You question my understanding of supply and demand as it pertains to geographic location, but I ask you this sir, Are you seriously ------- stupid enough to think $250 torch here on the west coast only costs $100 in Fargo? If anything it would be the opposite.

I don't know everything, not by any stretch of the imagination, yours or mine. But I do not know a lot about tig welding, machines and processes.

The reason I am explaining why you should just buy a cooler, is because I have been in your shoes, trying to save every last dollar. It doesn't work, cheap people can't afford to be cheap.

tell me what torch is better then a ck20 and why it is better?

i would like to know why they break when i have never broke one? seems odd you say this when i was told by a few welders that there fine, and well personal experience speaks for itself here.

Ck torches, ESPECIALLY the flex head ones leak with any sort of regular use. When I am talking use I mean like 6hrs a day or more of actual arc time, not just weld a part for 20 mins than do more fitting for 20 mins than do 5 mins of welding than do 30 mins more of fitting etc. The duty cycles on most CK torches, pretty much just the flex head models, are about half of what they say.

I have a dynasty 200dx that I run for mobile sanitary work like this:

Its pretty much all .065" wall tube, 3" down to fractional tube. We usually go in and fit a bunch of process lines and than weld our brains out for a couple weeks. Most of this welding never exceeds 50-60amps, my ck9 flex head torch is rated for 125amps, %100 duty cycle. After a 2 month job the torch is done, about a total of 150-200hrs of welding. And not exceeding half of the the rated duty cycle. God forbid you actually take the torch to 125 amps, its melted in about 10 min. Where these torches start to leak is where the teflon gasket is, on the front end of the torch.
I've had the same problem with the watercooled ones, both machine torches and hand held, for actual arc time, the weld craft watercooled torches are really nice, their aircooled ones suck *****, but are reliable.

But here's the thing, I love the ck9 torch (its the aircooled version of the one you want), its really small, and light, super comfortable to weld with. The torch head is only $50, so I keep extra ones in the job box and account torch head replacement apart of the job, the cables never wear out unless you cut them, so short of accidents all we do is just replace the heads. That particular torch is a consumable item as far as I am concerned, its pretty easy to throw in a $50 torch or two or three on a job ranging from $15,000-$55,000. It will be harder to do building manifolds with already low margins.

Now something like my torch back at the shop on my dynasty300dx, a weld craft, Crafter series cs310, is a premium torch, I can weld at 300 amps 10 hrs a day, sure the miller coolmate3 watercooler helps ensure it doesn't get too hot, but I know if I was running a ck I would have to factor torch head replacement in the job, and I don't like the feel of the 300 amp ck torch anyways.
Being comfortable with your torch is very important to me when going mobile to these plants, because I know most of the welding is done standing on a sketchy ladder, the edge of a man lift, hanging from a rafter in a harness etc. I need to focus on making perfect welds and not falling off whatever I am standing on and killing myself. Not being pissed about how my bulky torch is in the way and awkward to work with.

well now that you mentioned nothing that pertains to me, i can move on a strike all your comments from record.

seriously i don't care about welding process pipe. for god sake i build manifolds.

i also don't need to see the same pic of random pipes in every thread.

cool i get it you tig weld alot, but the more you post the more i hate your additude.

/thread

i will post when i make my shitty DIY cooler. and you can laugh as you do process pipe hanging from the rafters.

feel better your the better tig welder. (insert sarcasm here)

Wow, well actually pretty much all that information pertains to you, I gave you facts, and examples in a common workplace, all of which pertain to the parts you want/need.
I tired to make it easy to understand, but your obviously not getting it.

Do you have a learning disability?

No you retard you don't get it...... I have used these torches for "YEARS" with no problem.

and now you say they suck. maybe a problem with you? idk can't figure out why your opinion on them is more relivent then mine? explain that one chief?

and this talk of your time being so valuable that you can't make something, who the ---- are you? seriously....

i have been impressed by "one" weld you have made and thats it, yet you come in here like your hot ----, spitting knowledge like i give a ---- about your ability to weld process pipe, so aperently you know more about torch's then me, again your retarded.

you think i don't know there are good and "really" good torch's. let the additude go and maybe someone would take your advice, but you come off as such a doushe it is not even funny.

Hate to say it man, but if you have been using those torches for years, you would know how to build a watercooler if you wanted to, you would know how much pressure they run and all the rest of it. You came on here seeking some advice, I can only assume because you didn't already know the answer, that's fine, that is kind of what forums are for. But than you get told something that isn't exactly what you want to hear and you get all butthurt. The only reason I posted pics of my stuff is because if I didn't I could bet you would have been calling me out saying "who the ---- are you post some pics of your work".
If your time has no value that's fine, but I am guessing you do work for one reason or another... probably not just for fun.

All I was trying to do is help you out, if you don't want to take any of the advice, DON'T, you can hate me, I don't care. But stop acting like such a bitch.
