Re:TurboEDIT Advanced ROM Editor by Jason Parker

just to reiterate, theres no competition here. that just ruins the goal of pgmfi all together. neither is even seeking profit and dont mind if a few unscrupulous tuners try to, this is done purely out of their own enjoyment and effort to help people like us. hell, you might even say TE first started to help me with my pr4 :)

afaik jason and mike actually share their thoughts and discuss new ideas. dont forget TE is compatible with GhD bins and both are more than willing to share eachother's new routines and designs.

ya so, just wanted to give more props to two great programs by two ingenius coders ;D say i wonder where blake is heh

Mike

Whoa whoa whoa.. indeed I am going to have to agree with this. There is no competition. As a matter of fact, I have gone to Mike on a few things to get help with. This is a learning project for me. Ghettodyne and TurboEDIT accomplish the same thing, in different ways, that's all.

As for the Datalogging. Yes, it's "like" EcuControl in the fact that you get realtime data from the ECU as you drive. It is, however, "not like" EcuControl in any way shape or form. Nick has done a spectacular job at getting the information out there and making a quality app to monitor LOADS of sensors during a run.

The datalogging function of TurboEDIT is strictly used for tuning the ROM that is currently loaded. It accesses the cells the of the ROM and plots specific user defined data in the Datalogging grid based on those cells and realtime information from the ECU. This will allow users to get a more accurate tune derived from the characteristics of thier own vehicle.

To stress again, Ghettodyne is spectacular software offered at an even more spectacular price. Being the pioneer of OBD0 ROM editing, Ghettodyne has been the basis of numerous apps, it and ut's author should both be repsected.

Please don't put us in this position, as it was not what was ever intended. :-\

Sweet! I'm very close to getting my set up going and can't wait to try out both the programs! So TE and GD are compatible?

Re:TurboEDIT ROM Editor by Jason Parker (TurboEF9)

Ok, I just downloaded turboedit and right as I try to open it, it gives me this error message:
Runtime error '339':
Component 'MSCOMCTL.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid.

Now I don't know if this was one of those fixes from ghettodyne, but I can't find out b/c the site is down (or gone) :'(

Re:TurboEDIT ROM Editor by Jason Parker (TurboEF9)

OK, for the last time. TurboEDIT has nothing to do with Ghettodyne. Two completely seperate programs, two completely different authors.

As far as the error, you just don't have a file that TurboEDIT needs.

This is not a problem. I repackaged TurboEDIT to include that file (it increased installer size by 500K but it's there. :/).

So, uninstall, redownload, and reinstall. Should work great.

I have the development environment installed so I have all of the files. It's just going to take a few installs by different people to know what needs to be included. Don't fret. I check the board and my email several times throughout the day, and problems will get fixed immediately.
;D

Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
