Re: Turbo Vic's failed attempt at becoming a tuner research thread SFW
I dislike the xd16 because of price and the gauge. Moving it from car to car would be a pain. I got the o-meter because it was so small, and I can use suction cups to temp mount it onto the windshield. When you're street tuning, eyes on the road is #1, everything else is #2.
I'd also suggest you get an SSI-4. It can accept pressure sensors, can read almost any ignition (to get RPM signal), and therefore you can use it with ---- like carb'd cars very accurately. Thats the other reason I got that combo - my 67 bird has some POS 870cfm carb on a sbc, and sucks ass when it comes to response. But nothings cooler than hesitating during a launch and instantly transitioning to a massive burnout. :y |

I would say that the XD16 is a great wideband for PERMANENT install...but not for tuning multiple cars. The LM-1 is a better unit for taking from car to car... |

Re: Turbo Vic's failed attempt at becoming a tuner research thread SFW
so last nite i cameto the realization that i totaly suck at desoldering. i am using one of those radioshack bulb style desolders. i am looking at getting a good one, just lost on what to get. do they have all in one units that will suck up the solder and spit out good solder when i got to put chips in? i totally suck at all aspects of soldeing 100%, worse than spelling and grammer!

Re: Turbo Vic's failed attempt at becoming a tuner research thread SFW
hey thats the desoldering iron I use. They work good you just need to take a dremel tool and file the tip down a little smaller and they work great ive chipped quite a few ecu's using that same rig.
