Doing solder work is very calming to me. When I had my day job I could come home and sit there for a few hours and bang out a couple ECUs with the sucker and braid. Darkness turned into light when I bought my first desolder station, wow...what a difference. Cleaner and easier...for me it made sense. Probably close to 1000 ECUs now it well paid for itself, I actually bought a 2nd station a while back :) I was never really in to using braid on circuit boards. I had a weller desoldering gun for years, until I started doing ecu's. Then it just made sense to get something more professional. PLUS the weller used really expensive collection tubes and tips. What equipment do you use, Chris? |

That price is way too high. I got mine locally at Fry's for $119 on sale. That was about three years ago though, but I think Hakko lists them for $159. Also make sure it comes with the case. The case is very nice, yes yes. I've seen some places that sell them without it. |
Re: tricks to desolder?
fry's has them listed at 159. Hell Ive spent hundreds on braid :1
