Default Thinking of a nice cheap DIY WB setup

First if you got the skills buy a DIY WB kit for 28 shipped from DIY-WB.com. Then since the kit is made to be used with a DVM. Now comes the pimp part. A couple of turbo timers come with built in voltmeter like the Apexi or some Greddy units so you have like your display for your WB unit instead of rocking a multimeter in your car. At first I was thinking of just using a voltmeter but then they don't read low enough to work since there made to work and with 12v setups. Since the gauges start around 8v's thats outta the picture which would of been pretty sweet or anyone knows of any small volt gauges that read between 1-4v's. Otherwise I may just get a Apexi unit since it has a RPM display and speedometer display. You think that if the timer is reading the voltage on the o2 sensor you could use the o2 sensor option for the WB since your reading the voltage from it anyways with the multimeter? I just thought of it while reading the DIY-WB.com site. Any suggestions or heard of anyone using this kind of setup?

I just had a DVM velcroed to my dash for a display last year. You can buy simple 1"x3" digital voltage displays for about 50 bones. I found them on google but was broke at the time. This summer I'm building the 40 bar LED he has on the site. I suggest getting the PCB for 5 bones but find your own parts The PCB's come from a different guy who is very helpful. Sent money for the parts in febuary haven't heard from them since!

You bought one from DIY-WB.com? Hmmm He hasn't emailed me back yet about it so if I don't hear from him I'll probably just hold off. But for the price of a DVM I could get that Apexi turbo timer since their pretty cheap and have some nice options too.

Ya, he is sort of a bitch to deal with. I think he checks the DIY-WB e-mail only once a month or so. I go my DVM for 9.99CAN and works great!

Where you gonna find a TT for that? My old skool blitz cost me 10.00 and it only has 4 buttons, PWR, 1min, 3min, 5min. But what ever. You can get the LED Display or if your really electronically inclined try to build the 2in1 LCD Circut the have on there.

One of the options of the Apexi unit-
"By inputting O2 sensor voltage, the Timer can also display theoretical air fuel ratio. Since the Auto Timer uses the factory O2 sensor which is primarily designed for emissions, the readings may not be as accurate when the O2 sensor is cold. A'PEX recommends that the O2 sensor readings be compared to a high grade "tuning" O2 sensor for comparison. The Timer can also display critical data such as O2 sensor voltage and Battery Voltage"
Taken straight from the site. Just wire up the WB DIY controller to it which wouldn't be hard at all and you have a better display then a Voltmeter chilling in your car and you also get a turbo timer out of it too for cheap. They go for on ebay around 60-70. There are some HKS units that have a voltage meter also but I wonder since you have WB controller already how it would work if you had the apexi unit wired up for the AFR would it read correctly? If not just use the voltmeter on it.

Not really possibly. There has been a lot of though about this on the DIY-WB and PGMFI sites. It's not a voltage like a Stock o2 sensor. Some guys want to scale it to work of a standard afr gauge but you can with out EXTENSIVE work. So I would say the same thing with a voltmeter/voltage readout.

So really you have a few choises
1: Rock a DVM on your dash
2: TT w/voltage output
(You eventually learn in about 2-3 run what voltage you should have)
3: Build the 25-30 40 LED Dsiplay or buy it from BCRoe on that site (not Jurgen) for 46.00 assembled.
