quick ecu question

Default quick ecu question

ok so i was just wonderin, when i buy an OBD1 ECU, does it have to be from a non-vtec since my car is a dx and is a non-vtec?

it depends, if your buying a socketed one you could go either way and just disable vtec with the chip. I would only do that if your planing to do a vtec head or something along them lines. If your just going to slap a stocker in, the vtec ecu will always have a CEL on a non vtec motor

yeah i was thinkin the same thing, i just found out you could disable it right now. thats coo, cuz it leaves the option of an easy swap later. but how would the CEL affect the driving?

it wouldn't if it was just the vtec cel and you're car was non vtec.

ok so i just picked up a PM5 from a junkyard. it was from an 88-91 civic. this is OBD0 right? if yea, does anyone know where i can get a OBD2->OBD0 conversion harness?

or are you not able to chip an OBD0?

PM5 is a none chippable OBD0 ECU

Do not buy an OBD0 ecu for your setup if you are OBD2 or OBD1 already...
