think he is just pointing out that is FUBAR... also shows that its not just in the chip itself...

Maybe it's just the lighting playing tricks, but what's up with pin 12 (lower, third from the right)?

Damn good eye

looks like the prong is broken of the basic style socket which is very common when using them.

This is why I test all ecus that I chip.

If no extra components were added (VTEC,S300 boost control, etc) then it just gets a simple test with the harness to verify external ROM connectivity.

If anything else was added, it gets tested in my car. It's a must unless you have an advanced tester.

Next time you want an ECU done in SoCal, bring/send it to me.

word when I was chipping ecu's before the whoring out started a couple years back I would always test them before shipping them back out

I would also pull the chip to make sure j1 was jumped correctly and I wasnt running just on the stock rom

I kinda dont do them anymore since I dont have an obd1 car anymore but Im in the market for a gsr so I might actually do some here and there

Ya if people are in the so cal area madmax is your guy. He has done alot for the HMT world so support your roots

well I use to test the ecu in my brothers 99 si. I use to have to take the car for spins to make sure vtech worked. the car was bolt ons and a ctr intake cam so it hardly was out of this world power

I just test it with the harness. Should come up solid CEL without a ROM chip and J1 installed. Then proceed to test without J1 installed. After my senior project is done, I'll be on to making a nice ecu tester, mostly similar to one a guy on pgmfi did, but without the real components. Mine will be micro controller powered.

The only real in car testing should be done when you are adding output components.

One other note is that I test ecu's BEFORE I do anything to them. I have a couple of ecus come in bad. The infamous code 9, and one that had been in a fire. I told one guy his ecu was bad and he said "you must've done it". He shut up real quick when I opened it up and nothing was touched. ------ try to scam me bitch?
