Default Help with ECUControl

J. Davis helped me out and chipped my PR4 obd0 and installed a datalogging cable.. however when i start ecucontrol it says connected but nothing works.. any idea what the problem could be? i have an afc installed but it's not doing anything right now. Does the baud matter for the serial? It's 38400 8N1? Or what com port settings could be screwing it up? thanks!

do you have a chip installed that supports data logging?

try 9600 baud, 8N1, and after you "connect" from within the software and get the green light, click the datalogging menu, and select "start datalogging", if you're not already. Be sure you're using a straight through serial cable.

Serial cable should be fine, thusly it shows connection. The baud rate is the fubar bit, IMO. spike, any feedback on this?

Thanks for the assist, guys, I've been unobtainium lately.

when i plugged my ECU control up, i got the same thing. it needs to be 9600 8N1 on the ecu board and the setting on the COM port in windows. also, i was using a "gender bender" (gender adapter) on my serial cable, and it would NOT work. i bought a new cable (RS232) and plugged it in, and it was working perfect in about 2 seconds. HTH.

"gender bender" aka null modem adapter. $4.95 at Radio Slack.
