Default Help.. AFC... is this right?

well, i have been playing around with my afc the last couple of days trying to get my car tuned with the wideband.

when i rip on it my a/f is fine, or pretty close to where it needs to be, need some fine tuning though.. but at idle and when im just cruising along, the wideband reads.. lean most of the time..

when i try to richen it up so when im cruising that it isnt lean.. every time i touch the gas it goes way rich..

im not sure whats going on or how to fix it, im new to the afc, and finding out first hand how much they stink

so if anyone can help me out, or knows how to tune with the AFC in the NE ohio.. or PA area, i will come to u.. if u help me out.. any maybe give ya a little something for helping out.

thanks alot
nick

dont take this the wrong way but an AFC sucks ***, its way too hard to keep correct from all my time messing with them.

more than likely the problem is where you have your low to high throttle crossover. this is what i did to cure some of that issue a few years ago.

set your low to high at about 20-23% this way when you are light cruising you can baby it and when you need to say pull away from a stop light, downgear, or accelerate it isnt too far outta reach

then tune all you cruising

How lean is it during cruising? Should be anywhere from 14.5-16.0. Some cars can take leaner some can't.

i just spent a couple hours out on the road! things are looking ALOT better now.
cruising is fine.. its right where it should be...

what is ideal a/f for when u are romping on it? mine started out being 11.somethign .. now i got it a steady 13.4ish..
where should i go from here?

If your running whats in your sig, I keep it at 12.5:1 and under. 12:1 ideally for a good nights sleep.
mid 13's isnt likely to heat things up to much in the combustion chamber for short rips, but I personally wouldnt pull 4th gear like that.
