Walter, I know, but this is just a shitting backup plan or when it gets real hot. 50 degrees outside temp racing on a frozen lake equals big problems. I will be running this setup also during hot spring like weather. Cold water+hot turbo manifold=cracks :P

The problem is that most people don't realize that proper operating temp is both the coolant and the oil temperatures.
I wait until the oil pressure is low. About 16-20 psi at idle.

I ran around with no hood for 6 months; not counting running around while it was raining or through standing water, a couple of times I got a red hot turbo manifold doused by water fanned up over the fender by someone in an adjacent lane running through a mud puddle.
