Default Closed loop vs open loop problems

As you guys know, this is my first honda and I have had a million different problems. Now I am burning chips and they make changes to the cars overall running. Today I made over 30 chassis dyno pulls and he got it pretty damn close. I have a 84 hf, B18a OBD1 PR4, Crome free, 3 bar map. I am tunning our B setup which has a stock manifold just incase we have turbo problems during a race weekend. If we make laps then we will still score points.

I have the O2 off in the options menu, with the debug checked also
I have all the ect VS fuel set at 1.00

I will try and explain what is going on.
Start ECT 160
then I nailed the gas in 4th
the AF was about 10.0
then the temp went up and the AF went to 13.1

If we make a run at anything over 170 it is fine.
Under that and we are pig rich. It will cross over in the middle of a run too.

WHAT IS GOING ON I would love to run in open loop so it is the same no matter what temp it is.

Randy
PS I have not touched the ect VS timming but 4 degrees shouldn't make it down 3 a/f

There is an ECT vs. Fuel in there as well. I was having a little trouble with my Teg starting when it started to cool off. Itweaked the values in that chart and It started like a factory map would.

Just something else to try if disabling closed loop doesn't solve it.

ECT vs Fuel (cold fuel enrichment) is what you're experiencing like what snm95ls mentioned. The engine should be operating over 170 degrees anyway. You might have too cold a thermostat or a thermostat that is stuck open.

yes..

correct engine temperature = correct work of engine = correct A/F (stock)..

Don't boost before you hit operating temp.

If you are having problems hitting operating temp, then attend to whatever mechanical problem is causing that.

Well the dyno tunning went well today. I played around with the close loop switch. It ran the best with that set right after idle. Then our map took over and it was damn good. It still had some issues at colder temps but with a lot of work to the ect fuel tables and things are looking good. The richest we get is 12.5 to 1, the leanest is 13 to 1 this will work fine for my NA backup set up.

Just so you guys know, it is very hard to get up to temp and keep it there during ice racing. I had a race in -30 degrees, I blocked off the whole radiator and was running temps in the lower 170s. With the radiator open I couldn't get it up to 150.

NOW THE FUN, TURBO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Randy
PS I'm super glad that I learned all this computer ---- without the turbo on, things happen slower and it's pretty safe.

By the way it made 127hp and 113 torque all in 3 rd gear, with the water at 185-195 and oil at 240. Not bad because the motor only made 140 stock.
