ok im in the middle of a gsr swap in to my dx hatchand as of now its n/a but will b fi soon. now my prob is that i cant find a cheap obd1 p72 but i can get a p28 socketed and chipped for cheap. now the p28 says that the knock control and the iab are off do i need these to run and later when i go fi will this b a prob?

if you are going to keep it stock for now I say hold of, search harder and find a P72.
If you use the chipped p28 yeah you can disable the knock sensor with it but then you have to run some Uberdata or Chrome maps...I dont know personally how well that would run with stock maps. You would also have to remove your secondaries from the IM because the ECU wont be able to control them.
You could get someone to convert your P28 to a P72 I think, but then that would just be too much IMO

basicaly ive search around my area and ive found a few p28s stock for 125ish and on ebay ive seen chipped for 150ish, and as far as p72 in my area all i can find are obd2 and my boys cuz has an obd1 chipped for 250 and ebay i have bid on obd1 p72s and people have out bid me and they go for 180ish. right now i got 150 to spend. plus i have to buy a obd2-1 harness

I got a good deal on a virgin Auto P28 a month of so back for $90 shipped.
Keep searching hard...I would still reccomend getting a P72, if you search daily, you will find a deal on EBAY. Just make sure to get some sort of correspondance from the seller so you know all is legit. Then chip it yourself to save $$$...it's really not as frightening as most think it is.
