Default Boost timing retard?

I am planning to use the AFC hack and 440 injectors but I see that timing is an issue. Do I have to have a timing retard controller under boost? I am only planning to run 6-7 psi. Will an e-manage adjust timing?

you don't have to have a separate device, you can retard timing at the distributor. I don't know if the e-manage does this.

as a side note, I started my car yesterday for the first time after chipping my ecu and installing the turbo. I have never had a turbo before, and it was a junkyard setup... I have also no heavy soddering experience with electronics, and chipping the ecu was no big deal. it's running like a champ!!! chipping your ecu gives you complete control over fuel, timing, and other things besides. I highly recommend this route. plus it's FREE (besides the stuff you need to program your chips).

eManage has some sort of "harness" you can buy to manipulate timing I believe. However, eManage is just an over-enthusiastic AFC.

Yes, you can retard at the distributor, but you'll kill your low end if you retard enough to "compensate" for the AFC advance.

Anyway, I would go with willah's second suggestion. ECU Tuning.

Read the Engine Management FAQ for information on it.
