Default New Oil Pan Drain Flange from Tuner Toys!

Hey Guys,

Just wanted you to see what was up next from Tuner Toys.

We have the initial design completed, and have received the first article (first production part) back from the machine shop. We are not offering these yet, but will soon. Here are some pictures of the first part, and of the test fit on a cast pan engine (OBD1). We are also making a backing plate so this same flange can be used on a stamped pan (OBD0).

To install requires that you drill three holes, one 1/2" and two 1/4". No welding or huge holes required. Mounting hardware and gasket will be included in the final kit.

Installed on cast pan....

Watch the first post in this thread for them to become available. We expect them to be in the $17-19 range, depending on stamped or cast application.

Thanks Guys!

craig.. i gots an idea! on the back of the flange. instead of a flate surface you could have the oil port protrude like 1/4" into the oil pan to help w/ gasket/sealing issues?

just an idea.

So far there have been no sealing issues.

We had considered exactly what you suggest, but it would double the price of the part. Currently the entire piece can be machined without unchucking and resetting the part. (It's all machined from the top.) Adding the detail on the back would involve rechucking the part upside down, and adding the detail on the back of the flange.

It is a great idea, but with no sealing issues on the current design, we did not want to incur the added cost.

Thanks!

Yeah, cool designs are easy, mass producing them cheaply is not. It's a lot of fun to design something that satisfies both goals.
