Im going to be buying a new tranny within a week i have 2 choices a jdm gsr or the jdm type r 97spec both will be equiped with lsd. The Gsr is 1190 shipped Type-r is 1390 shipped what i need to know is do any of these trannys have dual syncros for 1-4 or is that BS also would the type-r be to short as of now with 302 whp i would spin 3rd gear down the highway with my pegleg b16 tranny and now with the gsr it spins at the top of third 1st-2nd are useless. Both of my previous trannys were open diff the b16 trannys diff exploded on me the gsr now grinds 2nd 3rd wont go in 4th at all and reverse sometimes. I was told i should upgrade to dual syncros b.c i like my fts. The web is full of bs half the people say type-r have dual syncros other half says it doesnt im also not sure if the type-r has the 4.7 fd and will be short as ---- as i dont wanna be spinning tire all over the place.

 

I have rebuilt many B Series trans and have never seen bar
ck to back syncros. If you wanting to know about B Series trans Bone has personally told me he does not get into them that often. Bone is in fact smarter than the average guru when it does come to the unmighty d. Jeremy
As for gears the longer geared ls will help for grip but hurt your times. Get a obx lsd and rock it.
You have a good open diff for sale. I have a unit that just needs a diff. Its a sir box

I'm sure the LSD would be more of a bigger difference either way. You could always spend the lil extra on the type-r, and if it blows up sell it on honda-tech to some ricer Sorry i've had a few drinks.....

 

larger tire yes. lol didnt hahaha tech break for good today! Either way I still need a b16 diff or a ls unit. And drinking on a tuesday is what I loved doing before wife cut me off

 

i have a i dont have any spare diffs im thinking of going with the gsr b/c that what i have no and thats what did work till i trashed it it sucks ive been threw 3 trannys this summer i dunno when its gunna end

 

you still have your broken trans s? And I could not quite understand your last post. you do or do not have a extra b16a s4c diff?

 

i have everything but the diff. The final drive has a chip in it though

 

92+ GSR/ITR has double synchs for second gear.

thanks bone after more research i found that 97 itr has 4.40 with b16 1-3 gsr 4-5 ill just save the 200 and go gsr.
