Default 99 Civic Leaking AT question.

My wife like to run over ----, and now her transmission is leaking fluid out the bottom most front housing bolt. I'm wondering if this bolt should even be able to leak. Does it run through an open cavity in the casing, or is it enclosed in a bolt hole. I'm considering just slapping some honda bond on it and seeing what happens. You can see the ding in the bolt knot. I'm going to drain it and give it a better look, but was hoping someone knew for sure. Thanks

I don't think Hondabond will seal since you'll never get all the ATF away intime for it to set up.

Alum. crush washer, dunno is Honda has anything that small though.

yeah, it's in the back of my mind too. I think the gasket material got shaken loose between the housings in the upper half of the bolt hole during the impact. I tilted the car at about a 30deg angle and am going to keep spraying it out every 30min or so. It may be a shot in the dark, but if i'm going through all the trouble to drop the tranny just to reseal it, I'ts getting a reman anyway. I may be wrong, but I'd imagine sepperating the casings is alot of trouble just to reseal it.

Since I'm never cracking the case I said ---- it. I filed the bolts mateing face, and the two tranny faces clean. I bottle brushed the bolt bore with brake clean until a qtip came out clean. Blow dried everything and mixed up some JB. Coated the inside real good, and put about a 1/8" layer down the length of the bolt. If that ---- leaks, it was meant to be.

It worked. It had a small pinhole on the one side through the epoxy, but I just tilted the car the other way and smeared some more epoxy over the hole.. JB saved me $694.
