Default New bike, couple questions.

Just got a 99 r6 for $3300.. 16k miles, new tires, brakes, windshield (bummer that its red), MIG exhaust, bar and frame sliders.

First of all, when I'm not raging i'd like to drive for good mileage... i know they get great mileage anyways but why not?
any tips for good mileage?

also, apparently the clutch cable was recently adjusted... now it engages all the way out and its annoying... why would it be so far out and how can I change it?

Thanks

there is probably an adjustment on the clutch lever, or else there might be an adjustment on the cable somewhere

Adjust it so that there is about the thickness of a dime of slack. That's where it should be and if you tighten it the clutch will slip slightly even if you don't notice it and it will wear out your clutch.

and also wear out your throwout bearing. make sure there is a small amount of play in the lever like d-man said. as for gas milage, just try to shift at low rpm. thats your only hope. i used to get about 30-35mpg on my bike

well i am not sure about the r6's but my 600rr doesn't matter how I drive it. 41 highway cruzin and 40 rippin on it thru town and a some top end pulls. go figure.on the other hand my brother inlaws r1 got like 50 cruzin and 19 racin. but that was a majorly reworked engine. too. sooo just play with it and see. each bike is different.
