whats my problem
So i switch my alternator i bought a new today and like any other problem hassle to put in in this cold *** weather anyway i install my alternator with my old battery i had to push start the car the car started up but i turn my HID's on and the car shuts off i push start it again and instead i turn my yellow foggies on i look at my volt meter and the car running the meter's pointer is in the red zone after i ran the car for like 20 minutes with my foggies on then i turn my HID's on again and the car acts like if there was a short some where and the check engine turns on for like 5 seconds and turns off again but the car running then when i turn all the lights off the meter goes up to like 13.5 voltage when everything is off what can that be

Your battery may or may not be any good anymore, but you won't know until you charge it for a while with a functional ground system.
Seriously, toss the jumper cables on as just ground straps and go for a drive. You'll know if that's your problem within thirty seconds, and you'll know if the battery holds a charge within fifteen minutes.
