Default HG question

Yes i'm posting another thread about a HG because jeff hasn't fixed the search function :1

Anyway, i'm finally changing my head gasket, and i'm not going to send the head to be milled because A. i'm broke, and B. i really don't care. So should i try some sort of gasket coating ---- that everyone swears about, or just clean it and slap it in?

at the minimum put a straight edge on the block/head to make sure the surfaces are in spec.

you can pick up a straight edge at any hardware store.

Also. if your head isnt warped to ----, you can sorta mill it yourself

with the straightedge , and some sandpaper, you wrap some medium grit sandpaper around the straight edge and start sanding the surface of the head, untill all that crap that is caked on there comes off, that when it looks and feel semi smooth, give it a once over with some fine grit untill its all nice and smooth...

or you can do it right pack your lunch for a week and take your head to a machine shop. its only like 20-30$

better than having to change it again 3 months later when that ---- leaks through.

yeah neat idea with the homemade mill :P

i'm not overly concerned about it. It's not my daily driver, and i only wanna rape it for about another month, and which point it's comming off the road and a b16 is going in
