K im a fricken moron, i have a ractive header on my shitcan and it was leaking at the joint for the downpipe, i couldnt for teh life of me find a replacement gasket, well i didnt fukin look for one either so that being said, i thought to myself "self, how can we fix this exaust leak cheap easy and fast?" Out comes the JB weld, i "apply evenly" around the joint, leave the car sit in my shop for the day, then go home that eve, all is good in the world, no more noise, im happy, till i get to teh first set of lights, and this godalwfull smell starts wafting in all around me, and man, i have smelled some gross ---- in my life (dont ask why, i just have) but this is fukin bananas, i mean like im gagging in teh car, people beside me at the lights are rolling their windows up, oh good lord did it stink, so i drive hoem like this choking all the way, i let it sit the night, teh next morn im off to work, same ----, as soon as the header gets hot the jb weld burns and i start to gag, this morn at the Tim Hortons the dude at the window was pissed at me, i stunk teh whole store up, I tried doing a highway pull in third gear at like 5grand for 20 min to burn it off, that didnt help at all, so now what do i do....?

You could've used the exhaust jbweld type stuff, its made to withstand the heat.. but for now I'm not sure what you can do lol

Not much you can do until it burns off Also, why not just take some ultra-copper rtv and silicone the bitch? I've used that on all of my headers, and never had any problems with them leaking at all.

 

not much you can do. it might help to leave it idling at like 2.5k for a while, that helped me burn off numerous oil spills off my headers. if its that horribly bad you could probably wrap a rubber band or string around the TB and leave it idling at 2.5k while you go jerk off or something. it also helps to leave the hood open so the fumes can leave

also, for next time and anyone else who may need, thing peices of scrap aluminum work pretty well as exhaust gaskets

 

Tried that, well the idling thing not the jerking off thing, well not that i havent tried that as well, just not this time, BUMP for anymore advise?
