Default Manifolds made by Mig???

How many of you have made Manifolds from Migs just wondering because my Mig does a great job at welding Has full Penetration threw the metal... im gonna make just a Header out of Mild Steel and see how it holds up... so if anyone can let me know what you think about making manifolds with Mig's... Later on i would like to buy a Tig but i have only had my mig for like 4 month's...

Migs are great. As long as you have enough heat and not too much wire youll get good penetration.I like to do the first pass with high heat and moderate wire. Then I turn up the wire speed and do a second pass.

Yea im really Good with my Mig... im not saying im a Pro but my welds hold... Dont look bad either... i Got the nice Purple and Blue Heat rings going around my welds... Not Bad for a Mig... what do you guys think about Mild Steel as a Header and i am only wonting to use Mild because i dont wont to spend alot of money on SS and screw up the Expensive nice pipe, rather do some trial and error, but have wondered how good Mild holds up under Heat?

Thanks Guy's...

I have a homemade mild steel migged manifold that has been holding for 5,000 miles +
The flange is homemade also
I used a lincoln 135 amp on sched 40 and it penetrated nicely. Go for it. Get some high temp bbq paint or comparable to make it look a little better if that's a concern.

ive got a craptacular lincoln promig 135 and it gets the job done..

made this bitch last year, should have gone with stainless, but i had the mild steel pipes laying around for months already.

And this was the first manifold i ever made a half assed attempt at a ramhorn, i got lazy on the collector, couldnt figure out how to cut the pipes at an angle....

I had no prior welding experience, i just bought the welder, hooked up the gas, and started welding and this came out
