Can I copy and paste the current map I'm using into newer version of Turbo Edit? I am currently using Jordan's old bin that
I richened up a bit, I think its an NG48 map. I just want to copy and paste the fuel map into NG55 or whatever the newest bin is. Can I do that without skewing the map?

note: the vacuum and boost columns are different.

 

dave you can, but im sure its gonna require some additional tuning, i know that when i had the first version of turboedit, i copy and pasted that into the ng48 and had to pretty much retune it. you can do that but expect to make some changes. why do you want the new code? that tune you have is good for 12-13psi. you got a wideband in it?

 

yeah you can copy from the old to the new bin but you will end up retunning it again, best bet will be just create a basemap with ng6x and tune it.

 

Are the column headings the same? If not, it will take some interpolating to determine the proper values. If they are, copy, paste and doulble check on the Wideband.

 

Do you care to elaborate about interpolation, that's something I've always wanted to understand.

 

Maybe tonight. I made a HUGE ------ sheet for converting maps when the .bin changed over. I should still have it.

Most sheets that where made used averaging for the calculations and didn't work. That's why they were pulled from the PGMFI forum, so I made one myself after HOURS of work.

 

hum, so averaging for the calculation doesn't always work (that's the method I had in mind to use), I'm more than curious to know how you did yours.

 

Averaging works but take it like this:

Column heading are 18 and 25
You want 20

So you take you values: We'll go with 12 and 15

So averaging gets you (12+15)/2=13.5
Now that would be the value for column heading of:
(18+25)/2=21.5 NOT 20, so You'll be off a bit.

Interpolating will take your 20 Heading and use it to find you Value. It's like graphing a line.

I will pull the equations and if I still have it I will post the ------sheet if I get to it tonight.

 

I did the same thing and it always came pretty close. However you still have to take into consideration injector latency and the fact that no one really knows if the numbers at the top of the columns are actually 100% correct

 

Thats why I stated to Check with a WB. Almost nothing translates perfectly. It's hard because I doubt (well know) the fuel curve is not linear, and if you want to calculate the curve of it to convert values HAVE FUN!!!!

It took me a long time to get my Non-Linear WB Equation!!! Have fun with a Fuel Curve that is no where near constant, smooth and all that crap.

Conversion tables are a Good Guess, more acurate then a New Base Map, But still should be treated like one!
