Default z24 cavy ?

okay well its my old friends car. Its a red 95 z24 cavy 5 spd with a stage 3 clutch, euro tail lights, intake, exhaust, carbon fiber hood, lowered 2 inches, has ricey graphics on the side lol. the engine has 80,000 miles on it but has developed a loud ticking almost a tapping. It sounds right under the valve cover like its a stuck lifter or something. Im just afraid that it could be a stuck valve. How could i tell the difference ? u guys think its worth 600 bucks to pic up ?

Same thing happend to mine. Rod bearing..I bet he ran it low on oil. Anyhow, he has the 2.3 quad4 motor. Those only came in the 95's so it's gonna be a little difficult to come by, but I'm sure you can find one used on carpart. I would look into what is needed to swap a 2.4 motor in there that came in the 96+ z24's. Later

i think the 95 2.3 is OBD1 and the 96+ 2.4 is OBD2 may be a little work

95 obd1 swap to obd2 is a pain in the *** in the jbody.

grab yourself a 95 or eariler 2.3L quad4, and slam it in.

If you wanna just fix the tick, replace the rod bearings and flog it.

the cranks in the gm quads arent too bad and ususally dont wear at all.

another pain you will find if you go that route is tha 95+ have balance shafts and you will have to remove those before you will be able to get the to the con rod caps.
