mini-me help!
set up:
d16a6 bottom end
d16y8 head
y8 headgasket
y8 timing belt
y8 intake and exhaust gasket
a6 dizzy with y8 plug wires and a6 plugs
i preped everything before i put the new head on the a6 block.
ive got the crank to tdc and the cam gear to tdc. the rotor on the dizzy is at the #1 cylinder, and the dang thing still will not start up and run right. when everything is at tdc it starts up but sounds like sht, but when i retard the cam gear by one tooth it starts up and sounds better but still sounds like the cam timing is off.
its getting plenty of fuel b/c i that's all i can smell.
could it be that i am using a6 plugs and not y8?
what else could it be?
i really do NOT want to take it to my local performance shop b/c i dont want to give them the credit for getting this damn thing to run.

ensure we have good compression in every cylinder, and make sure your firing order is correct, 1-2-4-3 counter clockwise. Just make sure the rotor is pointed at #1 when at tdc and the rest of the plug wires are in the correct spots.
Any CELs?
Any CELs?
yes i cam positive the timing is right. im kinda new at the the whole timing thing, but this will be the 4th time ive done itr, and ive never had this much trouble.
no cel's
and hell no on the ------ rigging the wiring.....gotta keep it clean.
the only ground that i undid was the one on the valve cover. and i put that one back on
tom ill have to go pick up a compression tester and see what it reads. i know the rings are good because the motor ran good before i stared this. no smoke no nothin. and the the cylinders werent glazed over either, i could still see the stock cross hatch very well.

did a compression test today....
#1-160
#2-160
#3-160
#4-0 <----WTF!!
bent valve is what im thinking. and i started it up this morning and it sounded like it was only running off of 3 cylinders. but i know that they #4 cylinder will still run, but just w/ a ticking noise.
let me know what you think.

add about a cap full (oil bottle cap) of oil into the dead cylinder and redo the compresson test. If the compression goes up like a ---- ton like 75-100 you have a shitty bottom end, I.E the rings are not sealing up. If nothing really changes and its still 0 after the test. Make sure your valves are not adjusted to tight on that cylinder. If the valves are to tight and slightly open it will give you no compression in that cylinder. If they are within spec and its still 0 you can try to find a cylinder leak down tester and isolate which valves are causing the leak Intake/exhaust.
let us know whatcha find.

well i ended up pulling the head last night and one of my intake valves were bent, bent bad enough that it was rubbing against the guide and not letting it shut. took the rocker arm assymbly off and took out my bad valve and i am visiably able to see the bend in the valve.

the one on the right is the bent valve and the one on the left is one i took out of another head to compare.
