Turbo and Timing question...
Ok, I have tried searching for the answer to my question and I may have overlooked it. Please let me know. However, here is my question.
I have an '89 Honda CRX Si with a SOHC D16Z6 Vtec motor, but it is using the OBD0 wiring configuration (for now). I have a P06 ECU chipped as a P28 around here but before I can install it, I need to find an OBD0-OBD1 harness converter.
Until I get a stand-alone fuel management system, I currently have a turbo setup that is using an FMU.
How should my timing be set? Do I need to retard or advance it or leave it stock? I have a funny feeling my timing could be off but I am not sure. I feel a drag when I try mashing the accelerator, then a sudden burst of power after a little bit. I have already checked for leaks and cracks and none seem visible. I have yet to check my wastegate actuator, because people say perhaps it could be sticking in the open position, then slapping shut (as to why I feel the surge in power). I would like to check my timing for now, then try finding a dyno to put it on to test that actuator.
Any suggestions?

With an FMU, your transition from vacuum to boost is never going to be comfortable. That slight drag is something I experience in 1st and 2nd gear as well.
What psi is your turbo running at? You are probably safe with stock timing if its only at 6psi. Anything too much more than that you might want to get an MSD BTM and retard your timing.

Well, the funny thing is that this issue just started one day and I was wondering if maybe the timing slipped a tooth, simply for the fact that it wasn't something I had been dealing with till now. In the 3 months I've had the car with this setup, this issue has only been plaguing me within the last month and a half.
Oh, and I've been running about 7psi.

Please be patient with me. If there is a way that i can program my OBD0 ECU, please, tell me abouty it! However, does this have anything to do with my issue that I'm experiencing?
Gosh I can't WAIT to get my harness converter. I wanna put in my "P28" ECU! I want VTec to kick in like it's supposed to.
