Default air fuel gauge?

How do you read the A/F gauge? the thing is always bouncing around all over the place in idle. while driving it'll go to the rich side sometimes. HOW?!!

its normal to bounce at idle and most other times.. its becuase the computer is constantly changing the a/f mixture.. its fairly typical for it to read a little rich also during WOT. a a/f guage really doesnt tell you ---- unless hooked up to a wideband that can scale the output down for a 1v a/f gauge

Narrowband output is worthless to use, only gauging 14.2:1 15.2:1. Close loop makes it even more of a waste of time.

So essentially without a wideband the A/F guage is a waste of money? or can it still help alittle?

No, a wideband is the only one that is useful.

A narrowband ("stock O2 sensor gauge") is useless.
