Default Strange (managment?) problems

I just started havin some probs with my car, it is now getting more and more frequent it goes like this:

when i try to start the car it takes a couple of cranks to fire and when it fires it just stumbles and dies and there seems to be a strong smell of fuel at the exaust, so i go to start it again and when it starts i press the throttle and it will rev to like 3-4k and then no matter what it dies, i noticed that when i turn on the ignition instead of the ecu light coming on for a second it just flashes really quickly once

any ideas, i have a few but i dont want to influence people's ideas

TIA

check for loose connections @ the ecu. Also, try a known good ecu (non chipped maybe).

strong smell of fuel... in the exhaust.. do a compression check as well.

i'll check the connections, but i cant try a non chipped ECU as i'm turbo with 450's, i was thinking of a compression check but the car runs fine when its running pulls as hard as it always has. it resembles what happens when you flood a carburated (sp) car.

valve clearance maybe?

my SOHC d16 did that when i put the head back on and not check the valve clearance...it would rev up like cazy on its own...

Clogged injectors or caked on residue...its something to check.

Check inside your distributor at the coil & ignitor too obviously.
