Default Questions about Apex'i SAFC settings

yeah so, my engine is still NA at the moment. I wanted to install my fuel management first. So, I got some dsm 450 injectors and the SAFC. I figured that with the stock ecu still thinking it had honda 240 injectors to work with, a correction factor of -47% would work. Being that 450 x 47% is roughly 240. However, I kept getting check engine lights. but only under closed throttle deceleration. so I thought, okay, closed throttle... suddenly the engine is getting no air, and if there was too much fuel at the same time, the o2 sensor might freak out. so, I reduced it to -50%. Still was happening. So I went to the other end of the spectrum, put all my SAFC values at -30%, and my engine is a happy puppy. experimenting with percentages, the MOST I could lean out the SAFC was -33%. anything more than that and the light comes on. Does the engine needing more fuel than I thought have anything to do with pulse width modulation or anything like that with the bigger injectors??

EDIT:
does -33% with dsm 450s seem like too much fuel for a NA d15? (no other mods, except intake and exhaust, which doesn't really count)

EDIT #2:
with no fancy shiny thingies to retard my timing, how much should I retard timing at the distributor to be safe so that my engine does not go ping ping poof?

edit 1...yeah thats too much fuel. i run -46% on my na d16.

edit 2...i retarded it 2 degrees at the distributor and i don't hear popping noises from my exhaust anymore.

Heh, -33% at idle for 450s is mad rich.

You're flowing -46% more fuel during the same pulse, compensate for latency, and you should be around -41%, -40% something like that. -33% will throw a CEL when you hit about 8psi.

man,
that's exactly what I thought, but my CEL keeps coming on. guess what, today for the first time, I got a CEL at -33%, please keep in mind my engine is still NA and I have (supposedly) blue top 1g dsm 450 injectors. I was decelerating at closed throttle in 4th gear, down from about 3000 rpm and all of a sudden CEL. So I had to up the setting to -32%. I still have no idea what is going on. Any ideas?? I would like to figure out if there is a problem with my fuel setup before I install the turbo.

You're NA? ...you sure you didn't mess up your AFC install?

Maybe a wire came loose? Did you solder your connections or did you speaker wire splice and electrical tape them? :P

No way,
all the connections are good. all soldered and heat shrinked... even the ground wires are just as they should be, 1 cm apart both connected to the ecu ground wire in the proper order. I am at a loss here. I installed the SAFC first, and it seemed to be working fine. I ran it for about a week, at 0% correction. then I installed my blue top injectors with a honda resistor box. put my SAFC settings at -40%. started the engine; and it started on the first try. drove for a bit, kept getting the CEL, and kept experimenting with the SAFC settings until I finally got this (my current settings):

throttle points: low-10% high-50%
low throttle: -32% across the board
high throttle: -40% across the board

any less fuel, and I throw a CEL. really the only times the CEL comes on is under closed throttle deceleration. I really don't understand this.
