Default ZC/Z6 question

I was wondering if you could put a ZC head on a Z6 block. And would it help any, I was thinking that it would make getting pistons and rods better.

You could put a SOHC ZC head on a Z6, but that would make it slower.?

DOHC ZC heads dont bolt to Sohc d series.

actually some of the zc sohc engines are also a v-tec if you find one of those it will bolt directly up to your block as well as give you a nice boost in compression. but if you want more power you should go with the 96-98 sihc v-tec head onto your block it can raise your compression to as much as 10.6:1 or higher depending on the work done to it.

Putting a SOHC ZC head or even a Y8 head on a stock d16z6 will not increase the compression ratio. The Y8 head will yield about .1 to .2 more compression. The sohc vtec zc head is the same casting as the z6 vtec head. No gain would be made. The compression difference is made up in the pistons.

to clarify...zc vtec IS a d16z6. japan doesnt have a d16z6. its known as a 1.6 zc vtec. and the y8 will raise compression higher then .1 or .2 but not much. the comp jump is due to the close, welded type chamber. but the flow characteristics of a z6 is way better then the y8. a mildly ported y8 will barely match the flow rates of the z6. but yes...the pistons will make the big comp jump.
