Default Im kind of new to Turbo

I drive a 2002 Lancer ES
Have: Short ram intake & SRS catback exhaust

I can't lie it's pretty quick but I know it can be a lot faster. I want to install a turbo kit.

Turbos are so expensive tho . I was thinking about ordering a turbo off of ebay . Some people say they are bad some people have a lot of success with them. Can i buy an ebay turbo an fix it up ?

If I can't do that can I put together my own turbo kit. What are all the parts that I need buy to have a complete turbo kit? I heard I can save about 500 bucks that way.

The turbos are a grab bag. I've seen some smoke within a few weeks of installation, and others give years of trouble free service.

The welded tubular manifolds in eBay kits, though, seem to be universally bad. Just about every review I've seen had them failing within a year.

Also, the eBay "kits" are often missing key items. Some of them are a bad joke - just a turbo, intercooler, and some random bits of pipe. Even the more complete ones don't come with any sort of proper tuning device.

its never cheap to do it right. Buy cheap, won't last, buy quality parts, less headache. 3000 spent here total on my project. Turboed 2000 civic si. went 14.2 at 102mph at 9.5psi. I also put over 20,000 miles on it before tearing down engine to put in forged pistons, this is not included in the 3000.
