Default Need turbo tech help

I installed a VZ21 turbo on a Honda 50cc motor & can't get turbo to spool up. Is this turbo too big for that motor? 12x12x12 = 1728 cub. inches in one cub.foot of air. Motor spins 10,000rpm & 3 cub.inches (50cc) = 30,000 cub.inches. At 10,000 rpm, 17.36 cub.ft of air a minute Do not know if that turbo is too large for this motor, any formulas for figuring this stuff out I am lost! Thanks for any help.

well if its 50cc...i would say its too small of a motor in general.. the vz21 being a small turbo still requires a minimum of a 125cc engine to even spool i believe..

sorry man but you may have to find a way to increase the cc and flow of the motor to actually even make that turbo spool up.

Have you tried reducing your air intake temps from the turbo itself? Also I think that's already one of the smallest turbo you can buy....did you also take a look at the electric turbos available...normally I would cringe at the thought....but since this is more than likely for a scooter it may prove to be more than enough juice for your needs

I'm sorry, it's a 1990 Honda NS50. Popular in Europe for many years, only imported to the Us for '90. I've chatted with the seller of the VZ21, & he claims it has been successful on 50cc motorycles, scooters, etc. Claims!. Just wondering if anyone "whithin information range" has figured it out or could help. Your help is awesome, looking for alot more. This has been a long ongoing project. Haven't had alot of time this past year to put in, but upcoming will be different. Also have a '90 NS50 with NOS raced at Bonneville. Missed the record by a litlte. Next time!

thats awesome, yeah man i have seen a few people saying they are running this turbo with a 50 cc engine as well after i started looking into it.. theres also a clone of this turbo and the stats for the clone claim 50cc...so maybe theres something else going on thats keeping you from obtaining spool....hows the exhaust? tuned decent and blowing hard? also whats your intake setup like?

also looked at some of those bike...lol 1100 rpms? bajesus, i drive a toyota and it taps out and cries at 6200...lol its ok though it does fine...just cant imagine a redline like that...lol
