Default Ford Ranger 2003

Hello All,

New kid on the block with a few questions. First off I am a disabled Vet and my wife has MS (who would have thunk it) so she isn't able to help much and crawling under a vehicle is hard to say the least. So much for whining.
I have a 2003 Ford Ranger with a 4.0 liter and a towing package. Have an older light weight travel trailer and the truck pulls it but it is panting. Weights are within the allowable levels and have Air Lifts on the rear so can level everything out. New (used) or smaller trailer aren't in the cards living on disability. A full blown (pun intended) turbo is out of my deck of cards too. I have done some research on electric driven turbos. I have seen the ones made of plastic and really don't do anything. What I am looking for are plans for a low pressure electric turbo system. I say low pressure as I don't need to race or blow up the engine; just pull a little weight and not all the time.
I have looked on you tube with one guy seeming to have a leg up but when I go to his site all I find are ads but no email address.
Ask me questions or send me in a good direction.

Thanks, marvg

As a point of reference, see what happened when we tried using a large gas driven leaf blower on a Nova. Much to our surprise, it actually made a few more horsepower.

You'd need something of approximately the same size and horsepower to make any real difference. Trying to fabricate your own would likely be about as complex as adding a junkyard turbo or one of the superchargers off a GM 3.8 V6.
