Zc and Zc, how do you know?
Okay I have a question, how can you tell if a DOHC ZC is the for the 1st gen rex or the second gen rex? Okay I know the Ist gen has carbs right? and has a brown valve cover. But let say they painted the valve cover and took off the carb, I know there is one mount that doesn't match up to our 88-91 Rex/Civics right? Which mount was that? And where would I see it? If someone's got pics that would be great, if not a description would be helpful. Cause I'm checkin' out a ZC tomorrow morning, and I just wanna make sure it'll bolt in my hatch, Thanks.

4 bolts holding the valve cover down, this is a 1g ZC, the stamp is normally on the back of the block on these I think. And sometimes come with a brown/olive top. They look more like the 86-89 teg engines.
2g ZC, black valve cover, and note look at the valve cover bolt alignment..

Haha Wes' old car. Haven't seen that pic in a while.
The ZC stamp on a first gen crx or integra(86-87) is on the back of the block and the valve cover is brown/olive in color. Second gens have the stamp on the front and black valve cover and the bolt holes are different.
Here's a pic of my 1st gen ZC, it looks identical to a 86-87 d16a1:

Koo thanks a bunch fellas... I be sure to look out for them differences. I never realized that the bolt pattern for the valve cover were that different. Learn something new every thread at HMT :P
JDM olive tops came carbed of fuel injected... north america never got a ZC, so I'm not sure what junkyard would have so many of them. If you got to an importer, you will find both, carbed and injected olive tops, as well as the newer ZC's that came in EF and DA chassis...
