ZC JGE CAM GEAR INSTALL **HOW TO**
ok i know most of you guys can work on your own stuff but this is more geared toward zc noobs. this is an almost step by step of how to put on your JGE zc cam gears.. here we go
tools needed:
plug socket
1/2" ratchet
1/2" extension
3/8" ratchet
3/8" short and long extension
17 and 19mm socket
14mm socket
12mm socket or wrench (both preferably)
10mm short and deepwell sockets
1/2" impact (makes life easy)
2 jacks or 1 jack and one jack stand
45min - 1hr of your time
1. remove the upper timing cover and get the engine to TDC (top dead center)

2. you need to jack the car up and remove the driver side wheel to gain acess to the driver side plastic shield

3. now that thats done you will need to remove the driver side mount completely(put a padded jack under the oil pan) this will make reaching everything much easier to get to. this will drop the motor down for easier acess.(nuts are 17 and 19mm)

4.now you will need to take off the alternator belt there are 2 bolts the one on top is for tension and the lower to hold it on the car. you need to just loosen both to swing the alternator to remove the bolt (top bolt is 12mm and lower bolt is 14mm)

5. now you need to remove the crank pulley its self.(it can be a pain in the butt) once you remove the pulley lay it aside(MAKE SURE NOT TO LOOSE THE WOODRUFF KEY!!) crank pulley bolt is 17mm

6. once the pulley is off you will need to remove the lower timing belt cover. there are 4 10mm bolts that hold it on. make sure you have the gasket with it.

7.once you have the cover removed you will now need to loosen the timing belt tensioner to be able to remove the timing belt.. tensioner bolt is 14mm

8. now remove the belt and note your gear position is still correct

9.now with the belt removed you will need to remove the cam gear retaining bolts. they are 12mm.(make sure when you remove them you DONT LOOSE THE WOODRUFF KEYS!!)

10. now reinstall the new cam gears and finger tighten the retaining bolts making sure the timing marks still line up.
10.5 replace the timing belt on the gears and tighten the belt up and spin the motor BY HAND till the next TDC position and make sure your timing is dead on!! make sure there is no slack in the belt.(if there is slack turn the crank 3teeth counterclockwise to remove belt slack) CAM GEAR BOLTS TORQUE TO 27 FT LBS.. (please torque them!!! not crank them down)

11. after you have made sure your timing is correct replace the timing cover,crank pulley,alternator belt, driver side mount,and wheel
12. make sure you tighten the cam gear adjustment bolts before you run the car to make sure they are tight!!! (if a gear slips its bye bye valves!!)

13. your all done!!! start it up and listen to it purr!!
