Do you guys think after I install a new Honda oil pump and repaired head, I should use a stock Z6 cam for the first hundred miles or so?
Meaning that, I want to check and see if the problem has been corrected or not. If the cam gets seized, then I would not ruin a new Zex cam.

if you do that i'd definately take a look at the cam itself and see if there's any burrs or anything on the main of the cam. it would suck to toss that cam back in a new head and have the same thing happen to you. also maybe just check and see if the cam is still straight or if it's bent at all. depending on how long it was in there while that was happening you may have worn down the cam itself causing it to move around inside the journal....if that makes sence

Looks like it overheated to me. If it is the center journal, I'd be willing to be it was overheated. When heads warp, the center comes up, and the outsides go down.
Do yourself a favor, degrease the journals and the cam. Lay the cam in the journals, and rock it back and forth. You'll see just how bad it may have warped.

i had the same problem on my b17 engine the bearings are gone and the head was just like that i took it to a really smart guy at a machine shop and he polished it up and i put in some sythentic oil and it runs great changed the block with a ls one.
