Default z6 head on d16y7????

Ok so i have decided i think i want to use another block for my vitara setup im am building.. Due to some deep scratches on the cylinder walls of my current d that got my worried. BUt anyways i have another block d16y7 non vtec. What needs to be done to put a vtec z6 head on it? Do i still have to do the same method as a lsvtec/crvtec setup would have to running a oil line for vtec?? Or is it different with d series?? Also can i use my z6 crank and girdle in this y7 block?? Thanks!

much easier with a D just remove the oil control orifice and bolt the head on. thats all you need to do to have vtec. you do need one diff length head bolt to bolt the z6 head to the y7 though. if you search for it on H-T or here, it will tell you which one. my y7/z6 hybrid made 206whp and 186 tq

You could use your crank but if the Y7 already has a good one I would just leave it in there. Same with oil pan and stuff. The Y blocks have a full-length girdle from the factory so if that bottom end is intact and undamaged I'd just toss the head on and go. And even the oil orifice thing you can ignore with a Y7 that was only necessary with older blocks.
