Re:VTEC head on D16y7
no on dohc, and yes on sohc vtec. but if you want neck breaking torque.....try something else. but if you want a little more power if tuned correctly, then yes. the mine me is pretty good on power. its really a bang for the buck. my 2 cents

Ok I am going to replace the head then, I can get a SOHC vtec head for like $125.00 plus shipping. How much HP/torque do you think I will get out of the new head, and can I install it myself? Also I am going to put one of those adjustable cams on as well, how should I adjust the cam? Should I speed up or slow down the timing, and will this new head be better for turbo? All help is greatly appreciated im new to honda tuning .
Thanks

You want to slap a VTec head on your DX block. That is what raises the compression, thus giving you the higher hp and torque. Mini's are well worth it. Still not a B series stomper without work, but they're a good learning platform.
Depending on the combo, you can pop up to about 125hp.. install it yourself? Sure.. It's cake. Basically, take old head off, and put the new head on, slap on a VTec Controller or RPM switch.. if you want to go all out swap over your ECU.. There are a lot little things you can do..
