But here's an idea if you want to save money or are on a budget: Try swapping in a set of a6 pistons...they're dished so it'll drop the ratio a bit. Downside is they also sit below the deck a bit as well, but hey...it lowers your rotational mass i guess, slighly better rod to stroke ratio lol. And as far as rod to stroke ratio goes, the d15 does have the better ratio out of the d-series, so you can rev em slighlty higher.

well my idea for buying the head fell through...so here's what i'm gonna do... since i'm still in highschool (last year thanks god) I can only make so much money..so i'm gonna go ahead and continue with turboing the stock b2 and run low boost..just so i can have some fun..then when i begin working full time in the summer..i'll look into an engine swap and building it up nicely..it just makes more sense that way thanks for all the input guys

First off, GROW A ------- PAIR OF BALLS. 8 pounds isn't ----. 9.8:1 is NOT high compression. Please, inform me, who makes rods for a d15 again that are aftermarket? Last time i checked...no one does.

Upon reflection of my above post, boost the b2 stock, you'll end up blowing it up anyways and no point to waste the money on the headgasket and such for the z6 head swap and you'll be impressed with the power that it will make boosted im sure. (considering you'll be going from 80 to the crank to probably like 120-140 to the wheels. If you're going to spend more than $500 on a motor down the road look into getting a ls long block. and then start parting together the rest of the stuff for the b series swap. B series swaps...cost a little bit more? yes. Worth it? yes. You can rock out 250-300whp without a problem on a stock b18a1 vs. having to build the ---- out of a d series in order to successfully break past 250 (in most cases).

^^^I'm with this guy, except they do make aftermarket pistons for the D15.

8psi isn't ----, I don't care what turbo you're running. If your motor blows at 8psi you had some serious tuning problems and shouldn't have been running boost to begin with. I'd kick myself in the balls with my third leg if my motor blew at 8psi.

I've ran 8psi on both my mini-me setups and the head was milled down quite a bit.

I'm doing another B2/Mini-me turbo in a couple weeks, should be cake.

It's all in how its tuned =)

I'm think that the d15b2 has a shorter stroke compared to a d16a6 resulting in lower displacement, but are the d16a6 rods actually stronger than d15b2 rods?

theres a guy over at sohchonda.com that goes by zer0daze he has a d15b7 block with y8 head giving 10.7:1 compression and he boost 9psi 200whp daily no problem, reving up to 8k on a reg basis lately hes been known to turn the whick up to 12psi

he also is a uberdata mad man and has spent alot of time on the dyno getting everything right so it just goes to show you that like the guy above said, the tune is the key not D15s being weak, thats a horse ---- cop out that people that dont tune their ---- well use when they break 4 rods on 9psi ::)

like i said i'll run the stock b2 boosted til i start working full time after school lets out.. then yes..i'm gonna swap and build something sexy.. i'll be pulling in 500 a week with no bills to pay except insurance and ---- so i can handle it
