Most people learn B-series because it's Hyped and fluent, then ASSume for D-series... when they find out otherwise, they still think in head-specific terms "except that one bolt." Uh-uh.

when putting a Y head on a 88-95 block you have to use the shorter Y head bolt/stud in that top left corner, or use a washer. what does B series have to do w/ it??? i know ---- about B's, all my experience is with D's.

Ok well, I did that compression calculator like the other ones and came up with similar results 12.61 to 1... I am some what of a noob when it comes to stuff like this but I just have to think that it is too high to run on regular and without a tune, if anybody has any informative links it would be most appreciated, and if you feel like flaming because my lack of knowledge then flame on.

your calculation is way off, i dont feel like using the compression calculator but off the top of my head i would say z6 block y8 head, and stock gasket will be around 9.8:1 unmilled.

Ok well since this is my first swap I will probably have it all ready in a week or two or three, whenever I get off my ass and do it, I will probably post up some pics, and let you guys know how it went.

yeah, use all z6 headbolts, and do a leakdown test on cylinder 4, why is it so hard to comprehend that 1 bolt/stud has to be used from a Y motor. i could explain why, but i would rather watch yall crack the block trying to get it to tighten down flush to the head, or tighten to proper tq and not have compression in #4 cylinder. good day.

no i undersand about the one bolt just the rest would be the z6 bolts and the one from a y8 head/block. So othere then the bolts everything else bolts together just fine?

yes, with the exeption of the timing, you will need an adjustable cam gear to correct the timing. why not just get a z6 head????
