Default y8/z6 block differences

im building a motor next week because my oil control rings are shot. my buddy has a y8 block that he is going to give me so i dont have the down time of ripping my engine out and sending it to the machine shop. are there any differences between the two? im basically concerned with compression height. im using weisco pistons for a z6 and ls integra rods. anyone whose torn one or both of these apart i could use your help.

deck height is the same, but Y's use a different oil pan, shitty ------- *** oil pump..........

stay with a A6 or Z6 block for build-up.

i knew about the pan difference. thanks. its actually not the oil pump that causes you to spin bearings in the y8. its the oil holes in the crank. my buddy runs a built y8 and he was spinning bearings in it untill he compared it to a z6 crank. i think he said the z6 had another hole or something and that they were twice the size and champhered. he hasnt had a problem yet with the z6 crank in the y8.

if you do decide to use the y8 block, use a a6/z6 oil pump and 88-95 oil pan.
